It’s been an exciting start to the year for us at Excelsior Group.

We’re currently building flats in West Bromwich, and as part of our social value commitment, whenever we go into an area to build homes, we also go in to build relationships with the people around it.

We also like to challenge ourselves to try new things, not just in the way we build, but in how we show up in the communities we work in, so this month that meant stepping into a classroom for the first time.

We visited Lodge Primary School to run a workshop about building homes; what happens on a live construction site and why safety matters so much. We then looked at the different phases of construction, who does what job, the tools they use, and how all those roles come together to turn a plot of land into someone’s future home.

We’ve absolutely loved seeing children realise just how many skills, careers and opportunities exist within our industry.
